How do I explain that i might have Alexithymia to someone who wants to date me?

Recently I've realized that I probably have this complication, but one of my guy friends wants to ask me out. The only reason why is should say no is that I can not understand if I really do like him.

If you look at the basics, i seems like i do. I get "upset" when he asks me to set him up with one of my friends. I smile more when he is around and I notice he's gone before i would anyone else. But am i doing this because i really feel like that or just because that's what it's like in the movies?

You put it rather well in the post - start like you're in the movies but don't fall too deep to early; early on, tell him like you just told us, and if he doesn't get it, don't spend the rest of your life trying to explain or excuse.

you could show them this site? tell them to search alexithymia?

that could seem a bit too much of an investment for someone you don't know if you like though

You're talking about going out with somebody, not marrying him. Why tell him anything about alexithymia? If he likes you, what difference does it make if you have alexithymia or not? If he doesn't want to go out with you after one date, ask him why not. If he doesn't like you the way you are, then telling him you have alexithymia isn't going to make him like you any more then he already does. If he likes you, why scare him off by telling him you're not NT?
